Practical Songwriting

Perfect for existing composers, singer-songwriters and those completely new to writing songs. This workshop provides a good way to engage students who would benefit from extra guidance in writing popular music. Subject specific group songwriting can be arranged for younger groups.

Topics can include:

• Brainstorming
• Using word imagery
• Basic chords
• Song structures
• Finding inspiration
• Writing melody
• Penning the first lyric
• 'Outside the Box' approaches
• Pop credibility
• Narative techniques

Workshop will take the form of group discussions and practical exercises in groups or on an individual basis. Students with existing experience are encouraged to bring their own instruments.

This workshop is available in short, medium or long session lengths.
